Starring a thread marks it as important so you can quickly find it in the Starred view. You can cycle through six colours to visually distinguish threads.
Star a thread
Go to Messages;
Click the star icon to the left of the thread you want to mark.
Each click cycles through the colours: yellow → orange → red → green → blue → purple → off. Starred threads appear in the Starred view in the sidebar.
